Ever since he can remember, Richard Picton has been painting and drawing.
Originally from South Wales, Richard was born in the industrial town of
Aberdare and grew up in an area saturated with industry and railways. These,
along with the surrounding mountain scenery, became some of the main
inspirations for his work. Although now living in Reading, England, Richard
continues to regularly visit Wales. Additionally, he finds inspiration for new
paintings whilst cycling along the banks of the River Thames and around the
South Oxfordshire countryside.

Entirely self-taught, Richard's main interest is painting in oils on canvas,
but he also produces occasional line and pencil drawings. He has a varied
repertoire of subject matter, including
landscapes and local scenes, but is particularly interested in painting
steam and
railway related scenes. Many of his previous commissions have been in
this area.
Whilst his original works may be
purchased, prints can also be made available upon request.
Anyone interested in commissioning a painting should
contact Richard for an informal discussion.
